Game of Craps is played with a set of two dice, each of them having six white dots numbered 1 through 6. The game is played by tossing the dice from one of the short ends of the table to the other. Craps rules involve some terminology you must know before playing craps. The player rolling the dice is called the shooter. The "come out" roll is the shooter's first roll. Each time the dice goes to a new player, it's the start of a new session. The first roll of a session is known as the come-out roll. Craps rules dictate that to make a come-out roll the shooter must place a 'pass line bet' prior to rolling. Many other players will place their pass line bet at the same time as the shooter. To place a pass line bet simply put your chips in the big band that runs around the outer edge of the craps table layout. To simplify things, it has the word PASS written in big letters within its borders.
The basic idea behind Craps is to establish a "point" number and roll that number again before rolling a 7 (craps). Based on craps rules only the numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 can be a point number and all other rolls on the dice have special meanings depending on when they are rolled (before or after a point is established).
Craps is based on the various probabilities that any given number will be thrown. With two dice there are 36 possible number combinations, called Permutations. Upon craps rules come, don't come, place and lay bets cannot be made on a come out toll. Bets on the Field, Big 6, Big 8, Hardways and One Roll Bets can be made at anytime regardless of whether or not a point is established and are always working when on the table.
According to craps rules a new game in craps begins with the ""Come Out"" roll. A "Come Out" roll can be made only when the previous shooter fails to make a winning roll -- more correctly known as "not making the "Point"" or "seven out". A new game then begins with a new shooter. If the current shooter does make his "Point", the dice are returned to him and he then begins the new "Come Out" roll.
Crap rules mention that payoffs are made based on the number combination displayed when the dice come to rest.
